I’m pleased to share here a sample of projects I’m proud of.

AI & Automation

The Bozeman Brief An automated pipeline that transforms recorded city government meetings into AI-generated podcast episodes, delivered to subscribers on Spotify and Apple Podcasts within 24 hours of each meeting. Meeting audio is downloaded from Granicus, transcribed and speaker-diarized by AssemblyAI, then fed to Claude to produce a two-host conversational recap of agenda items, key decisions, votes, and public comments. The flagship product, The Bozeman Brief, covers 14 Bozeman city boards. Now offered as a commercial SaaS product — CivicCast AI — available to municipalities nationwide.

AI in State DOTs: 60+ Real-World Use Cases and Policy Analysis A 100-page research report published through the Louisiana Transportation Research Center cataloging 60+ practical AI implementations in production at state DOTs — real deployments, not pilots or hype. Covers asset management, traffic operations, and more, with a state-by-state policy analysis and implementation guidance. Key findings: Missouri’s pre-incident detection system achieved benefit-cost ratios above 6.0; Hawaii identifies maintenance issues in real time via crowdsourced dashcams; successful AI augments staff rather than replacing them. Co-authored with Syndney Tate, Donner Kahl, and Isaac Gonzalez at High Street. [LinkedIn post]

Web Development & Tools

GTFS Builder A browser-based tool for creating, editing, and exporting standards-compliant GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) transit data. Define agency information, fares, service calendars, routes, stops, and timetables — including GTFS-Flex for demand-responsive services — through an interactive map interface. Export a validated GTFS zip file with no GIS software or programming required. Supports importing existing feeds for editing.

TransitPeers A free peer benchmarking platform for US public transit agencies. Using data from the National Transit Database (NTD), agencies can search and filter more than 2,300 agencies to identify peers by size, cost structure, ridership, or service characteristics, then compare performance metrics — ridership, operating expenses, farebox recovery, cost per trip, and more — via interactive time-series and bar charts with CSV export. Covers 2019–2024 data across all modes.

Data Analysis & Visualization

Bozeman Bicycle & Pedestrian Network Gap Analysis A GIS-based spatial analysis identifying and prioritizing gaps in Bozeman’s active transportation network, conducted for the City of Bozeman Transportation & Engineering Department. Using a weighted scoring methodology — incorporating safety, equity, connections to activity centers, and public input — the analysis classifies spot, linear, area, and experiential gaps to guide capital investment decisions. Published as an interactive ArcGIS StoryMap and interactive map experience.

Pittsburgh Bus Bunching A data analysis and visualization project quantifying the frequency, timing, and location of bus bunching on Pittsburgh’s busiest transit routes. Vehicle locations were recorded every 60 seconds throughout March 2016, classifying approximately 18% of all observations as “bunched.” The resulting visualizations — including route-level heatmaps and an animated citywide timelapse — were shared by Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and incorporated into the Port Authority’s BRT outreach materials.

Oil and Gas Drilling Database and Map While working at CMU’s CREATE Lab I developed a nationwide database of oil and gas wells and an animated map to tell the story of oil and gas drilling over time. View the code used to scrape drilling data from 25+ state sources
